Abstract
The article offers author's insights regarding the deployments of new Internet technology which is the Internet Protocol version six (IPv6) and its monitoring aspects in the Portuguese research and education network (RCTS). They state that the focus on the deployment of IPV6, was because of the exhaustion of IPv4. They mention that the QoSmetrics company was the chosen provider of monitoring solution architecture to the RCTS. It states that the monitoring architecture comprises of network probes that are deployed near access routers and on the equipment owned by FCCN, the internet provider. They argue that the perspective of the users and internet providers are important for the success of the deployment of IPv6.
