Abstract
Ida produced hurricane conditions over portions of southeastern Louisiana, including hurricane-force winds and storm surge inundations of up to 14 feet above ground level. Footnotes 1 RICHARD J. PATCH is a hurricane specialist at the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida. The cyclone summaries are based on Tropical Cyclone Reports prepared by National Hurricane Center hurricane specialists Robbie Berg, Jack Beven, Dan Brown, John Cangialosi, Andy Latto, Philippe Papin, Richard Pasch, and Brad Reinhart. In comparison, the 1991-2020 seasonal averages are 14 named storms, seven hurricanes, and three major hurricanes. Table 1 summarizes the activity, and Figure 1 depicts the tracks of the tropical storms and hurricanes of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season. [Extracted from the article]
