Abstract
This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, examines the role of balloon-assisted enteroscopy (BAE) in the management of adult small bowel intussusception (ASI). ASI is a rare condition that has traditionally been treated with surgery, but the introduction of BAE has allowed for preoperative diagnosis and potentially reduced the need for surgery. The study retrospectively analyzed clinicopathological features of ASI in patients with and without preoperative diagnosis by double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE). The results showed that DBE can be a valuable diagnostic and therapeutic tool for ASI, potentially avoiding surgical resection in many cases. [Extracted from the article]
