Abstract
The article presents a study of the role of cues associated with pain in opioid consumption. Topics discussed include the withdrawal signs that influence drug seeking in patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) such as insomnia and pain, tendency of cues conditioned to unpleasant somatic and emotional states during withdrawal to promote relapse based on research, and the vulnerability of women to stress- and drug cue-evoked relapse to opioid use.
