Abstract
To check the effect of starch as carbon source in bacterial growth, by measuring optical density for 2 days.3 laboratory isolates i.e E. coli, Bacillus, and Pseudomonas, were taken to check the carbon source effect on bacterial growth, in Luria Bertani (LB) broth media of pH 7.0 with various percentages of carbon source (Starch-1%, 1.5%, 2%) for 2 days. Unmodified but inoculated LB broth of pH 7 was used as control. 3 groups (N=3) and 24 samples per group were analysed by keeping the threshold 0.05 and G power 80%. coincidence interval 95% and enrollment ratio is 1. Present analysis of bacterial fermentation showed that for E. coli optimum growth was recorded with 1.5% starch and growth was enhanced up to 25% when the incubation time increased to 48 hrs. For Bacillus, maximum growth was recorded with 2% starch and prolonged incubation did not create much difference here. 2% starch was also found promising for Pseudomonas and 48 Hrs of incubation increased the growth rate upto 40% with the statistical significance of p<001.E.coli seems to show better results with added carbon source starch [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
