Abstract
Several letters to the editor are presented in response to articles in previous issues including Rubert Pearse's published paper on the mortality data regarding Latvia in the September 22, 2012 issue, another citing concerns on Rupert Pearse and colleagues' groundbreaking European Surgical Outcomes Study (EuSOS) and another on the rather high average mortality shown in Rupert Pearse's study which assessed in-hospital deaths.
