Abstract
The article offers information on the ancient tradition of the ancestors of Little River Band of Ottawa Indians and mentions gathering of an Anishinaabe people of the Great Lakes region on the banks of the Big Manistee River, Michigan for celebrating the annual return of a revered fish to spawning grounds. Topics discussed include culture and tradition, maintenance of a conservative approach to harvesting practices and the balance of nature.
