Abstract
The author discusses the need to study alcohol-related organ damage. Topics covered include research which showed that excessive drinking can affect almost all major organ systems and significantly contribute to alcohol-related morbidity and mortality, the relationship between the risk of alcoholic liver disease (ALD), cirrhosis, and alcohol consumption levels, and the impact of alcohol on organs and organ systems.
