Abstract
The article discusses an investigation conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Federal Administration for Children and Families to determine the extent of nonfatal maltreatment among infants in the U.S. based on data collected in fiscal year 2006. In 2006, a total of 91,278 infants below 1 year old experienced nonfatal maltreatment and neglect was the maltreatment category cited for 68.5% of infants aged 1 week and below.
