Abstract
The article describes the case of a 49-year-old patient with a history of an acute confusional state, generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS) and use of sodium valproate, and who was diagnosed with absence status epilepticus (AS) . The diagnosis was confirmed after performing video-encephalography (EEG) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain. The occurrence of both AS and typical absences epilepticus (TA) during puberty or early adulthood is discussed.
