This article discusses the nomenclature dilemma surrounding atopic dermatitis (AD) or atopic eczema (AE), a chronic inflammatory skin disease. The study analyzes web search data from 21 European countries to investigate the use of different terms and their impact on disease-related information access. The findings reveal that lay terms are preferred by the general population, indicating a need for standardized terminology and language in health information and patient communication.
