Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated the involvement of prolactin in the synthesis of lactoferrin from mammary epithelial cells of bovine. Lactoferrin is synthesized in bovine mammary epithelial cells (bMEC) and is secreted into milk. It is suggested that prolactin stimulated secretion of lactoferrin in primary (bMEC) and clonal cell line under serum-free conditions. The prolactin-stimulated messenger ribonucleic acid expression of lactoferrin was mediated by Janus kinase 2.
