Abstract
This article examines the issue of American oligarchy and its similarities to Russian oligarchy. It uses the case of the superyacht Amadea, seized by the US government for violating sanctions, to illustrate the role of wealth, secrecy, and tax avoidance in the American infrastructure. The article argues that American oligarchs, like their Russian counterparts, are both a product of a flawed system and active contributors to that system's failure. It also explores the impact of oligarchy on social inequality and public services, and discusses the historical context and current rhetoric surrounding oligarchy in America. Additionally, the article explores the influence of wealthy Russians on the American political and financial system, highlighting how they have transferred billions of dollars out of Russia and invested in American assets. It also discusses the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a few American billionaires, and argues that the American system is compromised by oligarchy. The article further examines the power and influence of wealthy individuals in America, focusing on tech giants like Google and Meta who profit from user data and attention. It also discusses the relationship between government and oligarchy, with examples of cities and states offering incentives to attract companies like Amazon. The article concludes by discussing the ability of oligarchs to evade consequences and the act of tracking their movements. [Extracted from the article]
