Abstract
The article offers information on how cells rapidly adapt to internal and external changes through signaling pathways involving posttranscriptional or posttranslational modifications, particularly focusing on adenosine 5'-diphosphate (ADP)–ribosylation (ADPr) that can target both proteins and nucleic acids. It discusses the key players in ADPr signaling, including the poly(ADP-ribose) polymerases (PARPs) responsible for adding ADP-ribose moieties.
