Abstract
Presents a study which shows that Tat-specific CD8-positive T-lymphocyte responses select for new viral escape variants during the acute phase of HIV and the simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) infections. What was revealed when the virus was sequenced immediately after the acute phase; Implications of this research for the development of an HIV vaccine.
