Abstract
The article calls for a revision of the definition of gross domestic product (GDP) to incorporate measures of economic activity to reflect human and environmental health. It considers the nature of the System of National Accounts and proposes the document to address its purpose of economic analysis, decision-making and policy-making. It suggests the presentation of positive and negative health contributions separately and a discussion of societal values.
