Abstract
The article discusses the study on the cell cycle-regulating transcription factors E2F-RB which is the promoter of numerous S phase-specific genes. Genes whose products are required for S phase are kept silent until signals received. These signals are in the form of phosphylation events that release S phase genes from their dormant state. E2F binding activity constitutes heterodimer of E2F and DP family members which possess conserved domains included in a deoxyribonucleic acid binding domain.
