Abstract
The article presents a case of a young man who was diagnosed with Reiter's syndrome (RS), a form of reactive arthritis that is composed of a small subset of cases within the larger family of rheumatoid factor-seronegative spondyloarthritides. The 29-year-old patient had developed rash on his scalp, umbilicus, glans penis, palms, and soles of his feet. It is asserted that patients suffering from RS will complain of generalized malaise and fever and will often describe dysuria with concomitant urethral discharge. Patients with this disease are identified to be always Caucasian males and are typically human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-B27 positive. On the other hand, the bacteria that trigger RS enter the body either through the genitourinary tract or the gastrointestinal tract.
