Abstract
The article discusses the use of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy in the treatment of respiratory diseases. HFNC systems deliver heated and humidified gases at a set flow rate, improving carbon dioxide clearance and stabilizing alveolar oxygen fractions. The article highlights the physiological effects of HFNC, such as reducing respiratory drive and inspiratory effort. It also discusses the use of HFNC in acute hypoxemic respiratory failure and hypercapnic respiratory failure, as well as the importance of detecting HFNC failure. The article emphasizes the need for individualized therapy and close monitoring to optimize the benefits of HFNC. [Extracted from the article]
