Abstract
The article discusses the possible influence of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) drugs on the immunological outcome of host-pathogen interactions and their role as effective antibiotics by limiting pathogen replication. Information on the role of mTOR complexes in generating durable and functional antimicrobial memory T-cell responses is provided. Designing drugs that promote distinct and likely contradictory immunological changes in antigen presenting cells (APC) and T-cells is proposed.
