Abstract
The article offers a look at the epidemic of pertussis in Washington D.C. from January 1 to June 16, 2012. During the period, a total of 2,520 pertussis cases were reported among infants less than one year old and children aged 10 to 18 years. The vaccination status of patients against pertussis is described, along with notes on the efficacy of the vaccination and the changes in the epidemiology of pertussis. The actions taken by the government to address the epidemic are also described.
