Abstract
The article identifies the main characteristics and challenges in designing coke drum (CD) and blowdown (BD) relief systems in delayed coking units (DCUs). Topics discussed include detailing of critical elements and key considerations in the BD system and flare hydraulics, and CDs equipment located in the BD system being pressure vessels.
