Abstract
The study was aimed to analyze the impact of post-processing, specifically thermal and abrasive treatments, on the surface integrity of microelements made of Inconel 939 using the Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) method. The vibratory finishing treatment in container smoothing machines for microelements with a thickness of 0.6 mm after printing and subsequent heat treatment, including solution treatment and aging in both air and argon atmospheres, was investigated. Surface roughness tests, microstructure examination and tensile strength tests were conducted. Studies revealed that the most significant reduction in roughness height was achieved when elements underwent heat treatment in air and subsequent abrasive treatment using ceramic balls. The surface layer was free from defects such as cracks or pores and thermal micro-cracks were observed in the middle of the samples after both LPBF printing and subsequent heat treatment in air and argon. Tensile strength tests demonstrated that heat treatment significantly increased tensile strength while reducing plasticity compared to samples after printing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
