Abstract
The article focuses on the controversy over evaporated cane juice (ECJ), a term used on a number of food products. Topics discussed include the primary difference between plain sugar or white sugar and ECJ, the issuance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of "Draft Guidance for Industry: Ingredients Declared as Evaporated Cane Juice," and the role of the issue of primary jurisdiction in the dismissals of ECJ suits.
