Abstract
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death in Africa, despite the continent's young population. Factors such as hypertension, stroke, obesity, dyslipidemia, and diabetes mellitus contribute to this burden. However, there is a lack of comprehensive data on the prevalence and impact of these diseases, especially in rural areas. To address this, population-based studies and interventions focusing on prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation are needed. Additionally, increased research funding, infrastructure, and collaboration are necessary to develop evidence-based solutions for controlling CVDs in Africa. The text also provides brief biographies of four authors who specialize in neurology, cardiovascular immunology, inflammation and oxidation in vascular biology, and genomics and precision medicine. These biographies are valuable for library patrons conducting research in these specific areas. [Extracted from the article]
