Abstract
An editorial is presented on Japanese encephalitis disease causing the outbreak being a JEV genotype IV (GIV) virus. Topics include South-East Asia associated with endemic transmission and sporadic cases of encephalitis, mainly in children; and limited distribution raising several questions about ecology, pathology and neuro-invasiveness, as well as its origin.
