Abstract
The article examines the complications and treatments experienced by women seeking post-abortion care at health facilities in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. Postabortion data in 2016 showed that 16% of patients had severe complications, 46% moderate complications, 33% mild complications and 5% with no evidence of complications. Findings suggest that policies to promote contraceptive use and safe legal abortion are needed to reduce women's recourse to unsafe abortion in Kinshasa.
