Abstract
The article offers information on how the Natural History Museum in London, England was able to collect and preserve a huge diversity of Diptera collections. Topics mentioned include the role of flies in the ecosystems, the distinctive features of adult flies, the importance of taxonomy, the use of state-of-the-art fly imaging, and a description of DNA extraction from insect specimens.
