Abstract
The article reports that Bishop Garcia of the Monterey Diocese in California has apologized, on behalf of the Catholic Church, to the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band for the tragic events that took place at Missions San Junan Bautista and Santa Cruz. Garcia offered a Mass of Reconciliation on December 22, 2012. Mixed emotions were allegedly felt among tribal members regarding this mass and apology. Some wondered why the apology took so long, while others questioned its sincerity.
