Abstract
An interview with Arab American author Naomi Shihab Nye is presented. When asked how she stays rooted while traveling and writing in the Middle East and elsewhere, Nye comments on how the act of writing, including scene and place, help maintain her foundation. She discusses the destruction of war and the notion of "home." Nye expands on the ways poet William Stafford has inspired her and encourages others to read two of his poems daily.
