Abstract
The article discusses a study on the first use of plasma focused ion beam with digital image correlation (PFIB-DIC) to evaluate the multiscale high-resolution time-resolved residual stress of laser-welded Eurofer97 in nuclear fusion. It results in nonequilibrium microscale residual stress which contributes to the macroscale residual stress while its microhardness is the same for the fusion zone and heat-affected zone. It provides insight for structural integrity in this engineering challenge.
