Abstract
The article discusses a 71-yr-old woman without any history of trauma or back pain presented with burning coccygeal and buttock pain, which had persisted for several months. Her symptoms were responsive to gabapentin. Physical examination was unremarkable. Spinal magnetic resonance imaging revealed a rare L5 compression fracture resulting in near-complete vertebral collapse, termed vertebra plana.
