Abstract
The article presents several orthopaedic cases during the Operation Unified Assistance aboard the U.S. Navy ship Mercy. The operation is a response to the tsunami that struck the Indian Ocean basin on December 26, 2004. The cases include a forty-year-old man that sustained a tsunami-related open tibial fracture, a male with an open reduction and internal fixation of the right femur, a nineteen-year-old woman with an open fracture-dislocation of the right ankle.
