Abstract
The article offers information on the radical conformational change undergone by paternal chromosomes during sperm development, highlighting the replacement of canonical DNA packaging proteins with sperm-specialized versions for compaction. Topics include the biological importance of paternal chromosome compaction; the epigenetic identification of paternal chromosomes postfertilization; and the experimental findings on the mistaken identity of paternal chromosomes.
