Abstract
The article reviews impulse oscillometry (IOS) method as to its clinical applications in pediatrics, proper coding practice for physicians and possible limitations. Topics discussed covered the IOS procedure, parameters including area of reactance (AX), resistance at low frequencies (R5) and its use in bronchoprovocation tests. Also discussed are IOS limitations as compared to spirometry such as being an effort-dependent procedure and considerations for IOS billing and coding.
