Abstract
This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, examines the local recurrence rate and risk factors for patients who underwent endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early gastric cancer (EGC) and achieved curative resection. The study found that out of 936 patients who underwent ESD, 14 cases of local recurrence were identified during a follow-up period of 53.2 months. Factors associated with local recurrence included male gender, presence of synchronous tumor, and larger tumor size. The study concludes that endoscopists should be cautious about local recurrence, particularly in cases with large tumor sizes. [Extracted from the article]
