Abstract
The authors wish to acknowledge that the I Ixodes holocyclus i tick saliva used in this study was collected and provided by Ms Greta Busch, Centre for Animal Science, QAAFI, The University of Queensland. Ticks were attached to a microscope slide using sticky tape and 5 L of 5% pilocarpine (Sigma Aldrich) in methanol was topically applied to the dorsal scutum of the tick, ensuring that it did not contact the basis capitulum and where possible, the scutum.
