Abstract
Assesses a polyethylene glycol (PEG) derivative of insulin for its ability to cross the lungs and provide greater bioavailability and/or prolonged systemic activity compared with insulin alone. Indication that PEG-insulin can be synthesized and formulated into a highly dispersible and respirable powder formulation; Ability of PEG-insulin to protect insulin from degradation within the lungs and allows it to slowly diffuse into the systemic circulation.
