Abstract
Presents a study which investigated the mechanism by which Hox gene expression in mice is initiated and propagated along the streak towards the node. Materials and methods used; Patterns of activation of Hoxb1 and Hoxb8 genes in the primitive streak region; Description of the rostral spread of Hox expression; Phase of induction of the Hox expression domains between initial transcription and establishment of the rostral expression boundaries.
