Abstract
The authors support the World Health Organization (WHO) model of intrapartum care for a positive childbirth experience and for transforming care of women and babies for improved health and well-being. They discuss the guiding principles for intrapartum care and outline recommended practices for positive childbirth experience. They stress the need for healthcare systems to implement the WHO model of care in accordance with a human rights-based approach. They
