Abstract
The article discusses a survey conducted at skilled nursing facilities with ventilated residents (vSNF A) to determine the prevalence of carbapenemase-producing organisms in the health care facilities in Chicago. It states that the survey identified patients infected with Verona integron-encoded metallo-beta-lactamase–producing carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (VIM-CRPA) colonization. Th Chicago Department of Public Health provided major steps for assessment and control.
