Abstract
This article, published in the journal Endoscopy, presents a case report of a rare and unexpected degeneration of a pancreatic serous cystadenoma (SCA). SCAs are typically benign neoplastic lesions characterized by thin-walled cysts lined with uniform epithelial cells. However, in this particular case, the SCA exhibited extensive degeneration, mimicking a pancreatic pseudocyst. The patient experienced recurrent cholangitis and was eventually diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, leading to the recommendation of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and duodenocephalopancreasectomy. The article raises the question of whether oncological follow-up is necessary for patients with similar clinical conditions. [Extracted from the article]
