Abstract
The article discusses the role of gastrointestinal tract in animal health and impact of leaky gut and inflammation in animals. Topics include how leaky gut allows pathogenic molecules, including bacteria and their toxins, to pass between epithelial cells, resulting in cell damage or inflammation of the intestine; the need to maintain gastrointestinal tract epithelium integrity to prevent pathogens from invading the body; and need to plans regarding the effective mitigation of disease threats.
