Abstract
The author reflects on the issues and developments in public health in India, particularly the relationship between the efforts to achieve universal health coverage and the effective response against noncommunicable diseases (NCD). Other topics include India's launching of its national program for preventing cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and stroke (NPCDCS) in 2010, the behavioral and biological risk factors for NCDs, and the country's National Health Policy of 2017.
