Abstract
(B) Treatment-related weight change over time categorized by the disease-related pre-treatment weight change of -20 kg (red trace), -15 kg (green trace), -10 kg (blue trace), -5 kg (orange trace), 0 kg (yellow trace) and +5 kg (purple trace). gl Participants tended to move up BMI categories with time ( I b i = 3.08, I p i = .001) following the treatment of hyperthyroidism. Some studies have previously shown a positive correlation between disease-related weight loss and treatment-related weight gain,[[2], [4]] but this is the first study to demonstrate the modifying effect of disease-related pre-treatment weight loss on the treatment-related weight changes with time.
