Abstract
The article discusses research which was conducted to investigate mast cell count and morphology in the diagnosis of low grade myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). Researchers evaluated 85 routine bone marrow aspirates in their clinical laboratory. They found that the number of mast cells is significantly increased in bone marrow aspirates of patients with MDS and that mast cells in patients with MDS display a more dysplastic phenotype.
