Abstract
Presents a study to estimate the critical time of disruption of the small-intestine mucosal barrier after conditions of experimentally induced intestinal occlusion. Collection of blood cultures from portal vein before and after obstruction of small-intestine in rabbits through ligation; Examination of small-intestine specimen proximal to the occlusion; Disruption of the barrier at four hours after the occlusion.
