Abstract
The article presents the author's views on the four career stages of paediatricians in Canada. They include--the nervous novice, 'gung ho,' self-respect, and the reluctant retiree. Some of the modifying factors discussed in the article, in context of the above mentioned stages are mentorship and career guidance, leadership, and morphogenesis.
