Abstract
Implementing distributed signal processing and distributed control in wireless sensor networks (WSN) may present some intriguing difficulties. These systems provide a challenge for the use of appropriate methodologies in order to the development of low-cost processing units with sensor nodes that take into mind energy limits. We conducted research and analysis on a number of the architectural challenges that these devices provide, including computing power, energy consumption, energy sources, communication channels, and sensing capabilities. Both the design concerns and the component choices were topics of conversation throughout our meeting. This body of work is intended to provide a set of instructions for software developers that are interested in building a sensor node platform that is centered on a microcontroller. In addition to this, we worked through a number of architectural challenges, including design trade-offs, wireless communication routes, and the implications these factors had on the WSN protocol stack.
