Abstract
This article discusses a rare but important complication that can occur following the injection of hyaluronic acid (HA) for osteoarthritis treatment. HA is commonly used in dermatology for skin augmentation and also provides lubrication for joints. In this case, a patient developed retiform purpura and skin necrosis after an inadvertent injection of HA into an artery in the knee. The patient was treated with hyaluronidase and other medications, and her symptoms improved. This case highlights the need for dermatologists to be aware of potential complications with HA injections and emphasizes the importance of understanding anatomy when performing these procedures.
